During the early morning of the 3rd of January, there was an attack on our web server by repeatedly requesting a page of one of our hosted sites so quickly that the server was flagged as failing, and was restarted – repeatedly. The web server was not down the whole time, but from roughly 6 AM Thursday to when I fixed it by blocking access to the machine(s) that were causing problems, the web server was increasingly sluggish and unreliable.

At roughly 11:30 AM Thursday, we blocked the attacking computer, and the problem was fixed.
